Dan Whitmarsh

Dan Whitmarsh Bio

Congratulations to Dan Whitmarsh on being appointed as Secretary of The Commissioners of the Land Office (CLO).

Dan received his Bachelors degree in history from the University of Central Oklahoma whose mascot is Broncho, which in Spanish means a small wild, rough horse (and yes, I did need to look that up).  He went on from there to earn a masters from Oklahoma City University and his law degree from the same institution.  For the record that mascot is Starsky the Ram.

Dan has an extensive background as a landman, mineral buyer and land manager.  He left the private sector to join CLO in 2019 as their Mineral Director.  In that role he initiated on-line mineral lease auctions, worked on orphan wells and solar projects.  He was named Acting Secretary in August, 2022 and has been in that position until his appointment as Secretary. We congratulate Dan on his appointment and look forward to networking with him in Santa Fa, New Mexico this coming July during our annual summer conference.

Developing and implementing statewide policies that encourage the responsible development of Oklahoma's natural resouces.
